Horsey Heaven

So we are home and have had the best time away. For me, this was heaven...3 days surrounded by horses, riding, watching others ride, talking to horsey people and just relaxing and being with Hamish. We were so lucky with the weather, I actually got sunburnt in March!!
I have never been to a horse camp before as an adult, I have never completed grids before (lots of jumps in a row that you kinda bounce over for the non horsey people here) and so I was also pushed out of my comfort zone. I love trying something new, I love learning and knowing what I need to work on. It is so important for our confidence to have that thing for us. That passion, that interest and drive. I was like a sponge, watching, listening, practicing. Did I get it right all the time? Far from it, but did that matter...NO! It is just feedback to what I need to do next time, it is not a failure when you get it wrong. I have come away with lots to keep practicing and so proud if all that I achieved.
There were some incredible riders there and it could have been easy to sink into feeling not good enough by comparing myself to them. Would that have been helpful? NO! I share Hamish, the pony(!) and I also could have compared myself to Shelley, his owner, but again, would that have been helpful?
I really want you to consider what you love doing and then ask yourself, do you do it enough?
When you do spend that time on you, are you happy doing what you are able to do, for you, and no one else? X
